As I pack up my bags and double check my gear, I have butterflies in my stomach! I am so excited to hit the road and travel to La Crosse, Wisconsin for Matt and Jessie’s wedding. This wedding will be even more special because they are sweet friends of ours and Drew is a groomsman. It can sometimes be intimidating to shoot friends weddings because they know me as the Jenna without a camera glued to her hand and bags filled with technical gear, with these two – it is just so natural that I can’t help but get lost in the moments. It is not only an honor and a privilege to be asked to photograph Matt and Jessie’s wedding, but a blessing to get to spend such a special day with them. I have been anxiously awaiting this weekend for awhile now, so cheers to these two incredible people and the beginning of their life as husband and wife!

1.) How did you two meet?
Through a mutual friend in college. We both went to a party at a friend’s house, and Matt say’s that time stood still when he saw me across the room
2.) How has your wedding planning experience been?
Laid back, stressful, and fun all that the same time. We’re trying not to get too stressed out over having a ‘perfect’ wedding. It will be perfect for us whatever it turns out to be. We just want to celebrate our wedding with the people that matter most to us, and enjoy our day.
3.) What are you most looking forward to about your big day?
Marrying my best friend. It’s as simple as that.
4.) What advice do you have for soon to be brides?
Don’t get so caught up in tools like pintrest or other sites, because they can make you feel like your wedding isn’t good enough if it doesn’t look like the things your see in those pictures. It was quite liberating on the day I finally decided those crafty things aren’t me, and I was going to have a wedding that actually expressed who I was.
5.) What was your favorite thing about your engagement session or experience with Jenna?
She made us feel relaxed and at ease. It was easy to smile and interact with Matt without feeling like I was posing and faking it.
6.) In a few sentences describe your wedding day vision or theme?
Our wedding is going to be simple and elegant. It won’t be anything over the top, because that is just not our personalities. We’re are in love and we want to share that love with the people we care about.
