Sometimes I don’t know what to write for the first sentence of a blog post, so I just sit and stare at the blinking cursor… well, at least I now have something typed up but seriously, when trying to talk about these two I get a little speechless. I met Lauren just a month ago when she found me in the airport, hugged me, and got us margaritas prior to flying to the Dominican Republic! We spent a few days there with The Her Initiative and it was life changing for the both of us. I think when you experience something so powerful with someone else, you are forever connected on another level. As we were leaving the airport, I had mentioned that I would be in North Carolina for a wedding in September and asked if she wanted to join me for a weekend getaway. Without checking her schedule or hesitation, she said yes. I am so, so thankful she did.
I landed in Raleigh and was immediately picked up by Lauren and her pup, Nilla. We got to her house and immediately started catching up on life, talking business, and getting the girl time going with a bang (and maybe some wine.) I knew I wanted to capture her and her husband David because I had remembered Lauren telling me how she had regretted that they never did engagement photos when planning their wedding! David got home from work and greeted us with hugs, man, that guy, he’s good stuff. It’s so incredible to meet people who just invite you into their lives fully from takeout sandwiches to popping champagne on the couch. These two have something so special it can’t be put into words (refer back to the first sentence!) They have this love and respect for one another that reminds you what marriage is about. They flirt, treat each other with respect, communicate through glances and nudges, and just truly love doing life in the presence of the other. Shooting photos of them was pretty much the best, such a testament to how each life stage deserves to be documented and this story was one that I loved to tell.
You’ll be seeing more of Lauren on the blog when I get around to editing photos from our time hanging on the beaches of Kitty Hawk but I just have to say that I am so crazy thankful this girl agreed to assist, road trip, drink wine with, and beach it with me for a long weekend. It was seriously one of the best weekends ever and I’m already missing her southern accent.

I can’t believe I am just now seeing these (that’s how much I don’t check facebook). DO you know how talented you are? You inspire me, Jenna Leigh Kutcher!!! Can I come visit YOU – I’ll bring the champagne, you have the music…. let’s do it. I miss you 🙂
