I know, I know, call the YouTube beauty influencer police on me, for I have sinned. Overtime (okay, and as I get older), I’ve upgraded my skincare products and habits. I even subscribe to the notion that there’s a particular order to apply your skincare routine.

If you want to know the truth, using carefully chosen natural skincare products has worked wonders for my skin. In fact, quality products have completely transformed it. And knowing the right order to apply my skincare has made all the difference in its texture, color, and overall appearance and health.
I want to share the exact method and correct order to apply your skincare routine that’s worked for me to heal my acne and clear up my melasma.

My evening skincare routine:
My little nighttime skincare routine takes just a few minutes, but has totally transformed the look and feel of my skin! (Skip to the bottom of this post for links to every product mentioned!)
Step 1: Oil cleanser
I know it sounds odd, but cleansing my skin with an oil cleanser has been one of the best things ever for its texture and moisturization. Rather than scrubbing away healthy natural oils with soap-based cleansers, an oil cleanser removes impurities and makeup while keeping your skin’s natural moisture barrier intact. COOL, right?! Step 2: Clarifying soap bar (2x/week)
I know, I just talked about not using soap on your skin, but *this* is an exception. The one I use is a charcoal bar with antibacterial, antimicrobial, and astringent properties for breakout-prone skin. It also has honey and essential oils to heal and moisturize the skin as it cleanses. I use mine just twice a week for a deeper clean, and I like to use my Clarisonic electric brush to exfoliate my skin at the same time. You haven’t FELT buttery smooth skin until you’ve tried this combo, believe me!
Step 3: Toner
I switch back and forth between this Everything Spray and this Clarifying Mist. Honestly, both are so soothing while also penetrating the skin to heal breakouts and calm any irritation. It also lets the next product absorb and sink in nicely. Pro tip: you can layer both sprays if you want a little extra pore tightening, soothing strength.
Step 4: Clarifying serum
This serum is liquid gold. It gives you the best non-greasy glow and has healing ingredients and vitamins to heal breakouts, minimize acne scarring, and reduce sun damage. It also smells HEAVENLY, so there’s that, too.
Step 5: Gua sha
Gua sha is this little nifty stone with curves and ridges for facial massage and manipulation. Not only is it totally relaxing, but it also improves blood flow, helps decrease fine lines, and stimulates your lymphatic system. Check out my quick gua sha tutorial here if you want to learn more!
My morning skincare routine:
Believe it or not, but my A.M. routine might even be quicker and easier than my evening one! Super great for getting out the door and starting your day on the right foot, with skin that feels gooood.
Step 1: Water
Did you know you can skip the face cleanser in the morning? If you think about it, it’s not like we just ran a marathon overnight! We were asleep… so our skin doesn’t need a whole intense cleanse sesh. I just rinse mine quickly with some lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a towel.
Step 2: Dry brush
After a rinse off, I love a quick two-minute dry brush. Dry brushing is just what it sounds like—you take a dry brush and…brush your skin. That’s *kind of, pretty much* it, but it works wonders for healthier skin. It exfoliates, increases circulation, and improves the skin’s appearance in almost no time. Step 3: Toner

This Clarifying Serum is once again my MVP for my daytime skincare routine. What’s great is that even though the bottle isn’t huge, you only need a few drops for it to go a long way! So it lasts forever on your counter. This stuff leaves my skin feeling moisturized while also balancing the tone and kicking any breakouts to the curb.
Step 5: Cream (occasionally)
If I feel I need a little extra moisture, like in the drying winter months, I’ll also use some Clarifying Cream. The serum definitely adds moisture, but this is extra creamy and seems to lock it in even longer. If I skip the cream, then I’ll usually do one last spritz of Everything Spray and be on my way!
