I walked in immediately feeling like I was part of the family when the bride’s dad pulled me in for a hug and told me it was so good to see me. That feeling continued throughout the entire wedding day as I caught glances from family members and was met with a smile, a hug, or a genuine “how are you?” That’s the thing about this industry is you get connected to people and their stories and this wedding day was affirmation that I am in it with the best of the best when it comes to clients. I captured Stephanie’s brothers wedding last year, so being a part of her and Robby’s day felt like I was more of a bridesmaid than a vendor.
We squeezed hands in the basement of the church and I told her I would see her up there. I caught Robby’s eyes as he was about to see her for the first time and we were both trying to play it cool – like we weren’t going to allow any tears to escape. We failed, miserably. She looked incredible as she hung on her dad’s arm and walked down the aisle. The rest of the day floated on through with so many moments that I swore I could never forget. As I took images of the two of them, I encouraged them to soak up each moment of being together – their wedding day was flying by. They kept looking at one another with the brightest smiles and whispered, “I love you” a million times. It never, ever got old.
I am so incredibly thankful for people like Stephanie and Robby – love so genuine you wish you could bottle it up and sell it to the world. They make this planet a happier place and share in a mutual love and respect for everyone who surrounds them. They made me feel far more than a vendor with their thoughtfulness and included Drew in every aspect of their day so that we could be together – seriously, the sweetest. After I put my camera down, I put on some dancing shoes and spent the night floating on the dance floor with their amazing friends and family until the bitter end. I am so thankful for their wedding but beyond that I am thankful for our friendship that will continue for a long time to come. What an incredible day spent with people who left me with real hugs and plans to see one another again, this is why I love my job.
Leave these two some love! If they get 25 comments on this blog post, they will win a complimentary 8×10″ print of their favorite wedding day image!
