trust
“all the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”
here i am sitting at a table, sipping my latte and learning about your life. your passions, your story, your goals. i want to know it all, i want to get to know you far beyond your bridesmaid dress colors and your centerpieces. i want to know who you are as a person and more so who you are in your relationship. i will share embarrassing stories, joke about my inability to get out of yoga pants on a daily basis, and mention my dogs once or twice. we will talk about all things life and maybe a little wedding, but let’s be honest, it isn’t all about that. you have a story that started a lot longer before a pretty sparkly ring, one that has shaped and molded you into the person you are. your story will guide your planning, your taste, you decisions. it isn’t about the coolest new albums or a stack of portfolio images, it isn’t about pretty packaging… it is so much more. at the end of it all as our coffee cups sit empty and our abs have had their workout from laughing, i want you to know me, to like me, to trust in me and the work i create… and basically, i trust that you are a crazy awesome couple who knows how to throw a heck of a wedding, a duo that i want in my life well beyond the wedding date because that is just how i roll…

if there is anything on the planet i can ask from my clients, it is that they trust in me… they trust that i will not lead them astray, that i will make them giggle at my own personal expense, and that they will have fall in love with the images they receive. one of the greatest things i tell my clients at our meetings is that if they choose vendors who they can fully trust, their planning will be a million times less stressful. leave it to the professionals people, i could shout it from the rooftops! we have seen it all, we have experienced the worst, we have cried over the best, and we have not only survived, we have thrived… trust me, this is likely your first time as a bride, this is another walk in the park for most of us. let’s do it.
sometimes i have radical ideas, like sitting on a garbage bag so that you don’t get your dress early, or climbing a hill in your heels, or taking engagement photos on the beach in subzero weather, but y’all trusted me and brilliant things happened. i want you to whole heartedly be pumped about the possibilities your wedding day holds and embrace the crazy ideas that come to me. i promise i will always have your best interests in mind and that i wouldn’t have you do something unless it would yield high amounts of awesome results. i won’t make you roll around in the mud or jump off of a dock into a lake. i just don’t want your photos to be the same as someone elses, you are unique, your wedding is unique, let’s prove it. sometimes the most obvious places are the last ones i want to shoot at… let’s pull off the road to that old school house instead, shall we? i am a dreamer, a visionary, i don’t want the norm, you shouldn’t either… let’s not do anything norm, okay? actually, let’s run in the opposite direction of the word “normal.”
a friend told me i was delusional and i almost fell off of my unicorn into a pile of glitter…
i like trying new things, i want to give you images that fit your unique relationship. i want to set us all up for success in the form of ridiculously awesome photos. i will give you my honest opinion, i will help you create the perfect timeline, i will tell you what works best. this is all my job, your job is to stop and enjoy being engaged. to go on date night and talk about things other than wedding linens and flowers, i want you to embrace the fact that you can say fiancé and sound so fancy, to enjoy the fact that you not only get to plan a wedding, but a marriage. i don’t think any engaged gal should eat, sleep, and breathe wedding, that isn’t the point. if you understand that a respectable vendor is going to give honest feedback and will use their years of experience to give you the best service possible, you will have a smooth planning process that allows you to live beyond wedding nightmares – trust me, those happen.
let’s say you are a bloody brilliant bride and hired a killer team of vendors for your big day? now what do you do? let them work their magic, have some fun, and use their creative mojo to make your wedding the best event of the year. vendors tend to be creative and passionate people, they want to deliver you with the best results… let them do their job! in the end, everything is based on trust. trust that you chose the perfect vendors for your day and let everything else go. you will be able to enjoy every precious moment of your wedding day and know that each and every detail was captured creatively. wedding planning is both stressful and wonderful, but the people you choose to surround you on your special day can make all the difference in the world. i promise that you will not be missing those nightmares about black dresses and crazy wedding day hair… pinky promise.

Great Post. I think that trust is so important for a bride to have with her photographer. I think your a pretty easy person to trust though you have such a great energy surrounding you that makes ppl comfortable right away. Love that sentance about the Unicorn and the glitter 😛
