If you didn’t notice this about me, I love to celebrate milestones. Six months with the new pup, three years of running a business, five years of life together… it’s just something I love. They say home is where your heart is, but I think home is where your pants aren’t. (Kidding, kind of.) It’s absolute bananas to think that exactly a year ago we were sitting in a stuffy office with ugly wallpaper signing our lives away (so we thought) as we got the keys to our very first home together. That day was an absolute whirlwind, one that included painting the bedrooms with my parents, organizing the kitchen with my mother-in-law, and finally starting the journey of making our house a home. Life on Stonefield Drive has been amazing. We knew we would love the high ceilings, the hardwood floors, and the backyard sunsets overlooking the corn field, but this past year have been more than just those cosmetic things.
We were lucky enough to move into a community of incredible neighbors, the kind who share their beer and throw spontaneous yard get-togethers, the ones who snowplow your driveway and get your mail for you while you are on vacation – our neighbors are amazing. We also experienced the joys of owning a space and making it our own… things are always changing and evolving in our space as we find new treasures to add and create new artwork to be hung. The things we didn’t even think about when we purchased our home are the things we have fallen deeply in love with over the last 365 days. We have slowly but surely made it ours and it’s been a process that I am so in love with. It’s crazy to think that we have been here for a full year but it’s even crazier to look at the photos I took of the empty home before we filled it with the things and people we love. I am so thankful to have this roof over our heads and am even more grateful for the person (and pups) I share it with. Cheers to one amazing year on Stonefield Drive (and many more to come!)
