ONE FRAME FRIDAY

Family love is messy, clinging, and of an annoying and repetitive pattern, like bad wallpaper. – Friedrich Nietzsche
remember that funny family photo session i told you about yesterday? well, here is proof that life is full of outtakes, but hey, this is more real life than the “smile and say cheese” style photos, so naturally i like it. speaking of which, i am just kind of in love with the raw imperfections of real life. i like that things aren’t always “picture perfect” or however that saying goes. the truth is, life isn’t perfect. things are messy, there are dishes in the sink, laundry to be washed, and a shower to be taken… yes, i am referring to myself.
at the end of the day, your family is the one who has witnessed each triumph and fail, they have seen the good bad and ugly, and they still think you are a decent person. through slammed doors and thrown spoons (that one was my brother, he took a chunk out of the wall on that one) we stuck together and still support each other each step of the way. it is easy to forget all of the petty fights over who got the front seat or a “borrowed” shirt that never made the journey home and far too simple to remember the family vacations, the funny pranks, and the time we told our little sister that she was adopted from china… oh, wait, we still tell her that. we still share a lot of secrets and stories that no one else knows even if we don’t share the same last name anymore. no matter how many miles separate us, we always seem to pick up right where we left off. i feel pretty darn lucky to call these people my siblings and i kind of love the fact that we actually enjoy spending time together.
no matter how many outtakes we have in life, we have to celebrate the realness of the moment. life isn’t always “picture perfect” but we can embrace the fact that the imperfect moments are some of the ones we remember best. don’t be afraid to celebrate real life, the raw, real and authentic moments are my favorites, even if they involve two uncooperative pups.
