Wow… Welcome to the 800th episode of The Goal Digger Podcast!
Over nearly 8 years, I have interviewed hundreds of business owners in all different industries, taught you countless business strategies, and opened my heart to you during pregnancy, loss, moving, and everything in between.
We’ve really lived some life together over the years, haven’t we?
After over 110 MILLION downloads and a whole lot of fun had and lessons learned along the way, I felt like this would be an appropriate time to stop, take a look around, and reflect.
And no, this isn’t a “goodbye” episode… The Goal Digger Podcast isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
But you ARE catching me “in my feels” today, because as I reflect on the last 800 episodes, it’s bittersweet to think about how much has changed over the past 8 years.
Today, I want to invite you to reflect AND react WITH me as we listen to the very first episode of the Goal Digger Podcast together. Think of it as a ‘listening party,’ if you will!
I’ll pop in throughout the episode and share what I’m thinking and feeling as I’m listening with you, and together we’ll unpack what’s changed and what stayed the same.
Setting The Scene
Before we dive into the episode, I want to set the scene: I recorded the first episode of the Goal Digger Podcast in my car. The title of the episode is “Authentic Social Media Marketing with Jenna Kutcher” and it originally aired November 18th, 2016.
Before this recording, I honestly hadn’t listened to this episode since I had recorded it–in fact, I had been avoiding it out of fear that I would never stop cringing!
When my team brought this idea up, I kind of hated it because I didn’t want to listen to this version of me – but heck, I honor her for simply starting this whole thing and it’ll be a fun little walk down memory lane.
So, whether you’re hearing this episode for the first time ever or the first time in a long time, just imagine me sitting next to you, listening too. And throughout the episode when we break away from the recording, you’ll hear my raw, real-time thoughts… Some will be sweet and some won’t be pretty, but they’ll all be true to the “me” today, in August of 2024!
Without further ado, let’s click play on the first episode of the Goal Digger Podcast together, cringe and all!
General Thoughts About This Episode
As a whole, not too much has changed! Social media felt like a screaming match back then and frankly, it still does today. In light of this, the principles I teach still ring true: focusing on serving rather than selling, the JK5 social media strategy, and telling stories to create authentic connections with your audience.
At the end of the day, my advice in this episode still stands!
One thing I love about this episode is just this focus on serving and community, it’s something I’ve always tried to keep at the forefront of all that we do, this idea of connection and community over selling and I think stories are the greatest way to really serve our audience and connect.
