This off season has been all about personal projects. One of my goals was to enter the world of video and produce short little films about this things I love. I know it’s far from wedding photography but it’s a piece of who I am and it challenges me to see things a little bit differently. I’ve posted a few times about my CrossFit journey on this blog but today I am sharing a little look into the competitive side of things. If you have ever landed on ESPN when the CrossFit Games are on, you probably sat with your jaw wide open wondering what possessed these people to put themselves through such crazy stuff – yeah, me too. The Open is the first step of the CrossFit Games and it is a worldwide chance to see how you rank among the other athletes. Gyms all over the nation (and world) have their athletes sign up for a series of five workouts spread out over five weeks, athletes then submit their scores – some will continue on to regionals, others will celebrate their efforts with beer and a cheesecake (I choose the latter.)

After watching one work out last year, I knew this was something I should push myself to do. As a former athlete, I needed something to train for (Jeb, I pinky promise next year I won’t plan a million work trips over the course of these five weeks.) This year I signed up so I am both competing and shooting a little footage of our amazing gym, our awesome trainers, and the people who keep us going with their awesome cheering. This work out incorporated overhead squats and chest to bar pull ups! (In case you are wondering, I’m the one in the blue tank top who looks like she’s going to die.) Special thanks to my husband for helping tape my heat! You guys, CrossFit Fort Atkinson is pretty much the greatest in the history of ever. I love these people.
