Ever feel like your content has the shelf life of a ripe avocado? You pour your heart into a blog post, podcast episode, or video… and it gets a liiiiittle love before disappearing into the void.

What if I told you there’s a way to make that same piece of content live longer, work harder, and drive traffic for months, without creating more, more, more?

Today’s episode is a roundtable with two of my favorite women in the Pinterest world: Kate Ahl of Simple Pin Media and Heather Farris of Heather Farris & Co.

We’re all part of the Pinterest Educators Program, and I am SO honored to be included. Pinterest hand-selected a small group of experts who not only teach the platform, but use it daily to drive results for their own brands and clients. It’s basically Pinterest’s way of saying: “Hey, these people know their stuff!”

It’s a stamp of approval on the strategies I’ve been sharing for years, and it means I get to partner with Pinterest directly to bring you trusted, experience-backed education that actually works in real life.

Today, we’re geeking out about one of my favorite platforms and pulling back the curtain on how we’re using Pinterest in 2025 to breathe new life into our content!

This conversation isn’t about trendy graphics or chasing viral pins. It’s about strategic, sustainable visibility, using just one hour a week.

In this discussion, we’re covering what’s actually working on Pinterest right now, how to repurpose your existing content for long-term reach, the biggest myths that are still holding creators back, and the simple system that helps you create once and keep showing up… without being “on” all the time

Oh, and if you love this convo, save your seat for my free class: Create Once, Traffic for Months: The Pinterest Plan That Extends Your Content’s Lifespan in Just One Hour a Week! In it, I’ll walk you through the exact Pinterest plan to extend your content’s lifespan and get off the burnout train.

Pinterest is Not Social Media, It’s a Search Engine

One of the biggest mindset shifts Kate, Heather, and I discussed is realizing that Pinterest isn’t a traditional social media platform; it’s a powerful search engine.

Unlike Instagram or TikTok, where you’re chasing dopamine hits and instant likes, Pinterest is about long-term visibility. People aren’t doom-scrolling; they’re searching with intention… planning purchases, vacations, home renovations, and even business moves.

Pinterest is often compared to a library, not a noisy bar, because it’s a calm, intentional space. And here’s where it gets even better: 96% of top searches on Pinterest are unbranded (Pinterest analysis, Jun 2023).

That means you don’t have to be a big name to get discovered. People are open to new brands, new ideas, and new solutions, they’re simply searching for inspiration and answers.

Content Longevity: Pins Live for 13+ Months

Let’s be real: You can spend 4 hours creating an Instagram reel that lives (at best) for 48 hours. Meanwhile, a single pin on Pinterest usually gets half of its total engagement over the course of 13 months (Pinterest Internal Data as of June 2023 | Pinterest Investor Day 2023).

That’s not just a stat, it’s a game-changer! Content you create today can continue driving traffic, leads, and sales next year.

Instead of constantly scrambling to post something new just to stay visible, you can finally shift into a sustainable, long-term growth model. Plus, with simple systems and templates, you can batch-create your pins without eating up your entire workweek.

Strategic, Sustainable Traffic (Not Just Vanity Metrics)

Here’s the truth: Pinterest isn’t about empty views or viral flashes that leave you feeling burned out. It’s about driving qualified traffic to your offers, your website, or your email list.

This isn’t about hoping someone clicks “like”… it’s about showing up right when someone is ready to take action.

The best part is that you have control over where your traffic goes. Want to boost your podcast downloads? Send your pins to your show notes. Want to grow your Instagram following? Link your pins directly to your best posts.

You are in the driver’s seat, and Pinterest is the open road.

You Can (And Should) Outsource It

If adding another platform to your marketing mix sounds overwhelming, let me reassure you: Pinterest is one of the easiest platforms to outsource once you understand the strategy. Seriously!

After setting up a system with templates and workflows, a VA can handle your Pinterest presence in about an hour a week.

That’s a small investment of time and energy that pays off big when your pins continue working for you long after they’re published. It’s a “set it and scale it” kind of platform, and once you see it in action, you’ll never want to go back.

It’s Not Too Late: The Best Time to Start is Now

If you’re worried you missed the Pinterest wave, let me ease your mind: You’re actually right on time. Pinterest is growing steadily again, and Gen Z is the fastest growing audience on the platform (Pinterest analysis, global, Jun 2023)

That means fresh users are coming in every day, looking for solutions, inspiration, and content… YOUR content!

Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, Pinterest offers a place where discoverability is still wide open and achievable. You don’t need a massive following; you just need a smart, intentional strategy.

If you’re serious about building a business that doesn’t rely on daily posting, constant “engagement,” or burning yourself out on the content hamster wheel, Pinterest is the solution you’ve been waiting for.

My biggest advice is to start simple. Repurpose what you already have, and create pins that answer real questions your audience is searching for!
