What if instead of competing with one another we sought out community? What if we banded together and celebrated each other? What if we truly believed that her success is my success? What if we lived in a world of collaboration not comparison? Seriously, what if? I’ve been thinking a lot about how to celebrate women. I think somewhere in life we were taught to compete: for men, for attention, for success, for jobs. We look at her and see where we measure up. Are we skinnier, prettier, more successful, or desirable? We forget that we are all in this together and instead of raising one another up, we tear down. No one ever made themselves great by making someone else feel small.
I’ve always shared how I truly believe that we rise in lifting overs, but sometimes it’s easier to talk the talk and walk the walk. Being in an industry that makes you feel like everything needs to be cut throat or that we are all in a sea competing for the same clients can make me feel alone. It’s like we put ourselves on these islands and attempt to go through life alone for fear of competing against others, when we do this, we often isolate ourselves and our potential. This year I chose to listen to my heart in really getting behind the community over competition movement: her success truly is my success. That was when the Jenna Kutcher Course was born and over the last 6 months, I have walked along side 30 female entrepreneurs as they have chased their dreams and really gone after their ambitions. There truly isn’t one way to success, there isn’t one road to happiness, but if I can share my experience to help others learn, then you better believe I’ll do it. The more that I work with these women, the more that I feel confident in myself. If I give myself permission to feel worthy and empowered, I am doing the same for the people I meet.
As we enter this week, I pray that we can all take a step back, encourage someone who is going after their dreams, call a friend and tell them you love them, and empower one another to empower others. Celebrate one another’s success without questioning your own, let their success be a reflection of your own potential. Here’s to the strong women: may we be them, may we celebrate them, may we surround ourselves with them, and may we raise them.

Cannot agree more, Jenna, I love empowering people all day long and twice on Sunday. Great blog you have here, keep shining your light!
