It’s easy to forget how amazing the Midwest can be! We might not have mountains or white sand beaches, but there is so much good here. As Dan and Lindsay’s guest travelled from near and far to end up in the fall wonderland of Manitowish Waters, they were greeted with the most brilliant fall color and the most magnificent sunsets. You see, this wasn’t what Lindsay and Dan had initially planned when he proposed with the most brilliant (and personally designed) ring. After they got engaged, the wedding planning started. They booked a hotel ballroom and started planning their day. A month into planning they realized that the wedding they were planning didn’t feel authentic to them and they scrapped it all and booked a lodge up north. It wasn’t just any lodge, it was in a sacred place for them, a place where they could breathe easier, take things slower, and celebrate up north.
Manitowish Waters was special to Dan and Lindsay because her parents have a cottage up there. Each summer and fall they would spent time up north! They wanted to share this place with the people they loved and so the lodge it was. Overlooking the water, these two said personal vows they had written and promised to spend one another together (and laughing with and at each other.) Lindsay’s dad owns a cranberry bog and kept one bog full and ready to harvest just for them! I am so glad they took a chance to plan a wedding that felt like them, to pick a sacred place to share with their loved ones, and to make images like this cranberry bog one that they will cherish forever and ever, amen.
