Think about the people you surround yourself with. You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with, are you choosing wisely? As I continue to embark on chasing the dream of transforming businesses, I really have been challenged and stretched, faced fears and triumphed, and put my head down to create a course that is going to change lives for entrepreneurs. I have focused a ton on who I am choosing to surround myself with, I want dreamers and doers with me, I want to take those who believe in empowering, along for the ride, I want to hang out with humans who are making things happen and keeping it real. It’s easy in today’s time to feel like we are “in touch” with so many people. From Facebook to Instagram, we are given the false sense that we have kept up with our friends and family, that we are ultra connected, and that we are surrounded by people who care. The truth is, most of our interactions happen behind keyboards and screens and we are often alone and isolated (especially those of us who work from home.)

The quote above has challenged me to look at the people that I keep close to me. Are they supportive? Do they genuinely want to see success from me? Are they pushing me to be better? If I answered “no” to any of those questions, then it was time to rethink where I was investing my time and energy. Relationships are tricky, they take a lot of work, they can sometimes rely on ease and convenience to flourish, and they can either inside you or drain you. The older I get, the more I realize that I like to have a small circle of friends that I can get real with. You’d laugh at this if you knew me as a teenage because I had friends from every county in Minnesota… some things do change with time. Friends either inspire you or drain you, choose wisely, friends. Today I want you to really look at the people who you are spending time with, the relationships you put energy into and really ask yourself if they are strengthening you or draining you. Be with those who believe they will rise in lifting others, surround yourself with those who believe in the beauty of your dreams, choose people who chase dreams and goodness with reckless abandon. Push yourself the to be honest, really honest and cling tight to the dreamers, the ones who have never told you that you were crazy, the ones who dream along side of you and chase with you hand in hand. Those are the kind of friends I wish we all had and the ones I will never let go of. That’s what life is.
