When I think about the incredible women in the Goal Digger community, I’m constantly blown away by the way you’re showing up for your dreams while navigating the beautiful, messy realities of life.
Today’s guest, Samantha Gaunt, embodies that perfectly. She’s a blended mom of five, a creative entrepreneur, and the founder of Simply Scaling—a business that helps mompreneurs streamline their businesses and align their passions with their monthly cycles for a strategic edge. How amazing is that?
Sam reached out to me in the Goal Digger Podcast Insiders Facebook Group with a challenge I know so many of us face: how to prioritize intentional growth while protecting your energy. With so many opportunities calling your name, how do you decide where to focus? How do you shift from “doing it all” to doing what matters most—without losing yourself in the process?
In our coaching session, we explore Sam’s journey as a multi-passionate mompreneur and unpack the importance of saying “no” to good opportunities to say “yes” to the great ones. We dive into how to identify what truly moves the needle in your business, align your work with your personal values, and create boundaries that honor your energy.
We ask some tough questions in terms of success and what that really looks like in this stage and season of life and talk about some of the harder things women entrepreneurs face – often in isolation. Needless to say, you’ll feel a lot less alone after listening.
Whether you’re a mompreneur, a multi-passionate creative, or just someone trying to balance ambition with peace, this episode is packed with insights you can start applying today. Let’s dive in and map out a plan for Sam—and maybe even for you!
How to Decide Where to Focus
As entrepreneurs, we often have no shortage of ideas. The challenge isn’t coming up with something exciting—it’s figuring out what deserves our time and energy. When everything feels equally important, here’s how I filter my decisions:
- Impact – What’s going to move the needle the most right now?
- Alignment – What is most in line with my core values?
- Quick Win or Sustainable Passion – Do I need a fast result to build momentum, or should I focus on something I know I’ll still care about a year from now?
For multi-passionate entrepreneurs, prioritization is key. The goal is to focus on one thing at a time, systemize it, and then layer in additional projects once your foundation is strong.
The Art of Setting Boundaries Without Guilt
As a wife, mom, and business owner, the pressure to do it all can be overwhelming. Setting boundaries is a game-changer—but enforcing them is where the real work happens.
My therapist once told me, “Boundaries don’t keep things out; they keep YOU in alignment with what matters most.” That perspective changed everything for me.
Here’s how to create and communicate boundaries effectively:
- Identify Your Bumpers – Where do you tend to overcommit? What drains your energy?
- Use Clear Communication – Let people know your boundaries are about protecting what’s sacred to you, not rejecting them.
- Practice Saying No with Grace – Create go-to responses to politely decline opportunities that don’t align with your current season of life.
When you confidently express your boundaries, you not only protect your time but also inspire others to do the same.
Overcoming Imposter Syndrome and Growing as a Thought Leader
Sam has something incredibly unique to offer: a method for syncing business tasks with a woman’s natural energy cycles. But stepping into the role of a thought leader can feel intimidating—especially for introverts who don’t love showing up on social media.
My advice? Thought leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room; it’s about creating value.
When it comes to establishing credibility without feeling overwhelmed, story-driven carousels, testimonials, and educational graphics can make an impact without requiring you to be on video 24/7.
You can also share real-life transformations from clients to reinforce the power of your work. And finally, I recommend going deep before going wide. Start with a small group of clients, refine your method, and let their results speak for themselves before scaling to a larger audience!
Should You Scale or Slow Down?
One of the biggest struggles Sam faces is balancing her ambition with the reality of raising five kids. She wonders, Should I push forward in my business or slow down to focus on my family?
This is a deeply personal decision, one that I even struggled with myself, and there’s no right or wrong answer. Here’s how I approach it:
- Define Success for THIS Season – What does success look like for you right now? It might be different than what you envisioned five years ago, and that’s okay.
- Build a Business that Supports Your Life – Instead of asking how to scale as fast as possible, ask how your business can fit into your life while still making an impact.
- Remember That Small is Still Significant – You don’t have to serve thousands to make a meaningful impact. Sometimes, going deep with fewer clients is the best approach.
Do the Reps and Trust the Process
The truth is, entrepreneurship isn’t about having a million ideas—it’s about executing on the right ones. Doing the reps, following through, and staying consistent is what builds confidence and momentum.
If you’ve been struggling with overcommitment, imposter syndrome, or feeling stretched too thin, I hope this conversation with Sam gives you permission to pause, reevaluate, and focus on what matters most.
Sometimes saying “no” isn’t about shutting doors—it’s about making space for the opportunities that are truly aligned with your purpose.
