Alright, alright, I am so excited to share one of my most favorite projects to date! When I bought my new camera, I told myself I had to shoot more video. There is something to be said about hearing people’s voices, seeing their movements, watching people interact. After seeing the incredible iPhone commercial this winter, I knew I wanted to shoot a little video while I was home for the holidays in hopes that I could somehow string it together and make it work. I am, by no means, a videographer – however, photography and videography have a lot in common and in anticipating moments you can catch some of the most wonderful things!
This is our Christmas: sleepy eyed and opening presents as a family in the living room among a million dogs, (okay, only four.) it’s gathering around the table for mom’s famous egg bake, and sipping coffee. Our Christmas looks a lot like hitting the road to Cromwell to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa and our cousins. (who are now having babies!) It’s candlelit church services and Grandpa reading the Christmas story from the bible. It’s taking a nap after eating a feast and polka dancing with Grandma in the kitchen. Christmas day looks a lot like our entire family piling into the house where we eat all kinds of goodies, drink wine and bloody marys, and play cards! It’s the kids all getting together again and catching up with those we haven’t gotten to see! It’s Grandma and Pa hopping in on a game of Pass the Ace and loads of hugs.
This is my Christmas is my most favorite time of year – because of moments like this. We gathered around Christmas night as I uploaded clip after clip while we laughed and relived the moments that had just taken place. Preserving these memories made us all cry (numerous times) as they watched the footage they didn’t know I was shooting… but this, well, this will be forever one of my most favorite projects because it holds so many of my favorite people and memories. I promise next year, I’ll make certain I get my face in the video at least once… whoops! TGIF, I’m off to shoot my 27th (and final!) wedding of 2013!
Grab a cup of coffee and stick around, there’s plenty more where that came from:
