pikes place
“every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you’ve never been to…”
yesterday was a day of adventure and experience. when i decided to make this trip out to seattle, i knew i wanted to make more of it than just a little learning, i wanted friendship, camaraderie, and a whole lot of girl time. i reached out to the lovely jasmine and was given names of a few ladies from out of state to see if anyone wanted to bunk up and be friends. god was sure clever when he put us all in room 633… we got to know one another and within hours it was like we were eighth graders giggling into the night. like the kind that you share eyeliner with and pretend like you are sisters – well, at least for ashlee + me who have gotten mistaken for sisters more than a few times. we literally spilled our guts, talked business, life, love, and the pursuit of glittery dreams.
after spending the morning on our social media being great business gals, we got dolled up to trek into the market. we walked down to the market, visited the first starbucks, got serenaded by a sweet man who happily accepted our offer for hot coffee, walked through the market place and smelled the “fresh” fish. people glanced as we would all freeze in our tracks, pull out our huge cameras and snap away. squatting in the streets, standing on our tiptoes, eager to catch the perfect shot… we were a sight to see. after a delicious lunch of not weight-watchers approved mac and cheese (sorry, tummy) we went through shops, got coffee to warm up, and went back to the hotel room to rest…. yes, eating mac and cheese does make one need a nap. no, i am not five years old… i promise.
after yasmin ventured back to cali, the three of us cabbed it to ballard under JDs recommendation to hit up hot cakes, first we needed sushi – you know my addiction is crazy, and then finished it off with an amazing brownie. like, i don’t ever want to stop eating it even if i gain a hundred pounds kind of brownie. man, this seattle thing is great for my spirits and terrible for my waistline, but i burned so many calories laughing with these ladies… that has to count for something right? it’s like a week at bible camp but times a million because we are grown up, in a different state, and totally in different stages of life. i mean, i wouldn’t mind a campfire, a bunk bed and a little kumbaya at all and if i became pen pals with these ladies my heart would sing every time i got a piece of mail. this experience already rocked but these ladies make getting lost in dingy alleyways so darn fun.

the adventures continue tomorrow… get ready.
