one totally awesome thing about my style, is that i attract people who i would naturally be friends with! there is something to be said about being different and setting yourself outside of the realms of everyone else, especially in such a saturated industry. we chatting with my clients, so many of them said that they chose me because they love how natural and candid my photos are. they aren’t for the awkward poses of the past and no they do not want that awkward photo that their mother had taken years past. i couldn’t agree more.

but here is a secret… shhh… my couples ARE actually posed, they are just natural. it sounds funny and i sometimes giggle when my clients tell me that they don’t want ANY posed photos. well, my friends, in order to get those perfect and utterly amazing photos you DO have to pose, it’s just that i promise i won’t put you in any awkward prom poses. i more so set the stage for your love to shine, i lead you to places where you can relax and just be. i encourage you to chat, because lord knows we don’t want a million photos of you starring at the camera with a forced smile on your cheeks. 

so how do we make it look so candid and natural? first off, i tell you to flirt, to flirt like you are back in the eighth grade and to act like i am not there. next, i make you laugh and organically lead you into poses that don’t look so staged and silly. i made myself a posing guide to help me remember some of the cute options that get  you exactly where you need to be to precisely flirt, laugh, kiss, and cuddle in front of the lens. i have references in case the boys have absolutely know idea what i am trying to get them to do. hint: not all men know “that one photo on pinterest where she has her head on his shoulder…” my style is all about documenting couples’ stories in an artistic, authentic, organic way. i live to tell your love story. 

one of my FAVORITE parts of my job is the fact that browsing blogs and pinterest counts as “market research” and that there are always new techniques, styles, and poses that i am just dying to use. i feel like if you work with someone who loves what they do, their happiness is contagious and who doesn’t enjoy contagious love? i always stress how important it is to work with people who make you comfortable… you can be with the best photographer in the world, but if their personality makes you cringe.. chances are, you will look awkward. so find someone who shares in your joy! 

i encourage you to be, just as you are… i’ll try and make you laugh (it’s okay if i am not funny) and i will encourage the two of you to just be you, in love, in front of my camera. so, you don’t want those awkwardly posed and fake photos? me neither. but trust me, give me twenty minutes to quickly pose you, make you laugh, and force you to flirt and i promise you will have photos that would be fit for magazines! 

some of my dearest friends started as clients. when you attract people who have a similar style, they share that same zest for life and love for weddings. i love staying connected throughout your planning process to hear how things are going, offer advice, chat over coffee. i live vicariously through my brides and the stories they tell. each day is as unique as the couple and this is exactly why i love what i do. so, like you, i love natural, organic, real love. 

i promise i won’t make you say “cheese” on the count of three.
