Lately I have been going through all aspects of my business with a fine tooth comb. From my logo to my portfolio, my branding to my online presence… no stone is going unturned while I have the time to spend focusing on the business side of things. I have really spent the last year focusing my efforts on dialing in on the kind of people I want to work with, the sort of brides I want as friends, the kind of families I want to celebrate love with. As I am getting amped up for wedding season and 2014 is filling up ridiculously fast, I wanted to take the time to talk about my brides… don’t worry grooms, maybe I will even make you a special post too! I want to celebrate these blushing ladies who choose me to be with them on their special day, who treat me as though I am a bridesmaid with a camera, who send me encouraging emails just because, who fill my mailbox with amazing little notes… these are the ladies who fuel my life + business.
You might be my bride if you:
– Could sip coffee morning, noon, and night.
– Spend some time browsing pinterest and pinning the prettiest of things in an organized fashion.
– Have a wedding binder that has colored tabs and pretty cursive labels.
– Think you are hilarious and don’t care if the rest of the world agrees.
– Agree that there is “no such thing” as too many shoes or nail polish colors.
– Immediately change into sweats or yoga pants upon arriving at home.
– Are a big fan of social media: hello, facebook, twitter, and instagram.
– Have back up flats to change into after your gorgeous heels hurt your feet.
– Are a raving fan of the man in your life – like #1 and no less.
– Love naps. Let’s get real, who doesn’t love naps… we really love naps.
– You think wine should be considered a food group! Fermented grapes for the win!
– Are type A and on top of things… me too, girlfriend, me too.
– Believe in creating your own real, natural moments. Not recreating others…
– Your idea of a romantic date night is take-out sushi and a bottle of wine.
– Want to spend your wedding day being present in the moment, not worrying about documenting it.
– Value your friends and family so much that they play a special role in your wedding day.
– Use words like: smitten, totes, giddy, and lovely.
– Like texting and sign off with xoxox’s… we speak the same language.
– Love vintage things, unique pieces, lace, burlap, and pretty glitter.
– Focus on planning a marriage, not just a wedding.
– Think that a wedding is a celebration of your unique love, not just a cookie cutter affair.
– Are down with walking in fields, hiking through the woods, or running across the road for the perfect shot.
– You watch cute puppy videos when you day feels like it couldn’t get any worse.
– Introduce me as your friend “Jenna” and not just the photographer…
– Want to go on double dates for beer and pizza long after your wedding date.
– You want to travel the world: Italy, Africa, Costa Rica… the opportunities are endless.
– Think you sing “Single Ladies” far better than Beyonce ever could.
– If you think wedding photography should be an experience, not just a product.
– You are a dreamer, a creator, and someone who is passionate about experiencing life.

Pretty sure I could do this all day long, but here are a few things that make me know that you are my girl. As I continue to focus on limiting the amount of weddings I accept each year, I want to be in love with every single couple I get to work with. It is so important that we are the perfect fit for each other, it isn’t just about a service on your wedding day – you are choosing someone to tell the most precious, beautiful, enchanting love story of your lifetime. I want us to sit down for coffee and chat like old friends, I want to hear about your day and your story and your vision. I don’t want to only be your photographer, I want to be part of your lives. I want you to hug me at the end of your wedding and promise that we will see one another soon! I want to be a part of your planning, to see what your dress looks like, to help shape your wedding day into the best day of your life. I want to laugh with you when I trip attempting to get “the” shot, I want to allow you to be raw, genuine, authentic in front of the camera! I love the idea of this. It not only attracts your brides (new bff’s) but also sends away (I thought repel was too harsh a word) those brides that want an event service provider. You offer so much more than that.
