It was love at first sight…. not for Johnny and Shannon but for the four of us. (I bet you thought I was going to tell their love story, but alas, I had to tell you how we met and ended up in Vegas. This is beginning to sound like the movie, The Hangover.) We were in Costa Rica and signed up for a “Pure Adrenaline” tour (which, if we were being honest, was more of a pure “somewhat adventuresome but we will name it something cool so you feel outrageous” tour.) Drew and I were the last ones on the bus and the only seat available were in the way back next to these two. We asked if anyone was sitting there and Johnny responded, “saved them for you big guy” and the rest was pretty much history. We hung out with them all day, went tubing, horseback riding, zip lining, rock climbing and closed out the night with a dinner at the resort. Sometimes you just encounter people that you know were supposed to be in your life, these two are that for us. We hung out with them the rest of our time in Costa Rica and promised to get together soon because it’s just silly that we live on opposite sides of the country.
A few months later I flew out to Seattle to photograph an amazing mountain top elopement and Johnny and Shannon offered to let me stay with them, so I got more Mills in my life (thankfully) and the planning started. We all met in Vegas a few weeks back to check out Sin City and we had an amazing time! We ate way too much food, lost a few hundred dollars, and jammed to Michael Jackson songs at the Cirque du Soleil show. They showed us around the city, picked out amazing food spots, and sipped a few drinks with us every night. I am so grateful we decided that we thought Pure Adrenaline sounded wild and I am even more thankful that we have kept in touch one year later. These two are getting married in California in March and since I wasn’t able to take some engagement photos while in Seattle, I made them do a quick mini session at The Cosmopolitan where we were staying! They have an amazing story, which you can read: here and are two entirely fun and admirable people. We are so thankful to have a couple like them in our lives and we can’t wait for them to finally become Mr. and Mrs. Mills! Until our next trip, you two…
