The Elephant in the Room: Should We Fear AI?

According to Jasmine, there are two main camps when it comes to AI: those who see it as an amazing tool that can simplify our lives and transform the way we do business, and those who are terrified of its potential negative consequences.

When speaking with her, I asked Jasmine how entrepreneurs can utilize it to further their businesses, and she acknowledged that both perspectives are valid, but she believes that AI itself is not inherently good or bad.

Instead, it’s the people who have control over AI that determine its use and potential for harm.

Jasmine emphasizes the importance of training AI models to reflect the goodness of humans and the middle ground that most people identify with. She even compared AI to a pit bull, which can be trained to be either aggressive or loving (which I totally agree with)!

She also highlighted the opportunity that AI presents for underrepresented groups, such as people of color and women, to have a seat at the table. She encourages these groups to embrace and shape AI technology as a means to give a voice to themselves, which I LOVE!

Jasmine’s Experience with AI

As an entrepreneur, it’s crucial to pay attention to emerging trends and be open to change. Following this principle, Jasmine started making changes to her platform Social Curator when she realized that AI could streamline and automate certain aspects of her business.

Social Curator provides marketing resources for small business owners, including visuals, caption templates, and training. However, Jasmine recognized that the traditional model of asking customers to do the work themselves was not the most effective or sustainable approach.

Instead, she pivoted her business to offer a more hands-on experience, where the work is done FOR the customers… by AI. (How cool is that?!)

AI Helps Entrepreneurs Ask Better Questions

AI has become a valuable tool for entrepreneurs, helping them ask better questions and make more informed decisions. In our conversation, Jasmine explains that AI provides an opportunity to train a model on every person’s business, giving them a customized output.

In fact, Jasmine says most people are using tools like Social Curator and ChatGPT wrong… because they don’t know the right question to ask.

Many entrepreneurs may not be familiar with these technologies or may struggle to articulate their needs effectively. However, Jasmine and her team realized that they could use AI to provide prompts or questions that would guide entrepreneurs in obtaining the desired output!

When using ANY Artificial Intelligence technology, it’s important to remember this golden rule: the more specific the input, the better the outcome will be.

For example, if a photographer specifies that they specialize in wedding photography for elopements, Dottie, ChatGPT, or any other AI technology can provide more relevant and accurate responses when you ask them to write newsletters, social media captions, blog posts, and more.
