I started this little blog almost three years ago, wow. It had this ugly layout and was overly busy with different colored and sized fonts and very little content. I figured people only wanted to see photos, I mean, who would want to hear from me anyway? Well, I remember the day over a year ago when I posted a little poll on Facebook and Twitter asking which posts people enjoyed the most: weddings, engagements, lifestyle, or personal… the response was overwhelming, people wanted to know what was going on in this little life of mine and I was scared to see how this all would unfold. You see, I’ve been following blogs for the past few years, it all started when I was wedding planning and the blogroll grew as I was exposed to more bloggers who shared their expertise on subjects like: weddings, fashion, photography, and cooking!

I realized that the blogs I loved following were ones where you actually felt like you got to know the writer. There was a voice that was clear and words that were honest. Blogging is a lot of work, I will be the first to tell you this. I publish three blog posts every single day for various blogs, so I understand the time and commitment of running a successful blog. Sometimes I struggle with that the heck to talk about – I mean, after publishing daily for well over a year, what more could a girl say? Sometimes I worry that people are getting sick of hearing my thoughts or reading about my mundane life. Sometimes I get caught up in the numbers: how many people are reading, how many liked it, how many page views? But then I realized what made me love the blog world we live in…
You see, I refer to fellow bloggers as my friends, as if we are besties and know each others favorite Starbucks drink. The truth is, I have never met half of them, the other half probably don’t even know I exist. What makes blogging cool? It gives you an inside look into people’s lives, it makes you feel like you can relate and that in turn causes you to gain a new friend (even if it’s just on the blogosphere!) I was telling my hairstylist about this hairstyle I was obsessed with, I tried to describe the look and finally I told her that “my friend” had it and I wanted it. I then laughed as I told her that I had never met her and probably never would but I loved her and enjoyed following her life through various social media networks. It made me realize that this is the world we live in, people either love you (and think their your best friend) or they stop reading. You attract or you repel – that’s the point of owning a boutique business, friends.
Blogging has changed my business, it has opened me up to my clients, friends, and family. It has allowed me to write and share my thoughts, to show what I believe to be true in the industry, to shed light on my profession, and to post embarrassing stories about myself. I want this space to be one where we connect, where you feel like you could come over in your slippers and we could drink wine and catch up on life, I want you to refer to me as “you friend” whether or not I know you exist. I want you to leave little heart emoticons on my Instagram and send me emails. I want you to book me the second a diamond ring is weighing down your ring finger and I want to order you your favorite latte at Starbucks. It’s a blog eat blog world we are living in but I kind of, sort of love it.
