I truly believe you are only as good as the people you work with. In that case, it’s no surprise that I was voted the Best of Wisconsin because I simply work with the best. What a year… I know I say it all the time in status posts and Instagram captions but I truly work with the greatest souls. These are the kind of people I pray will come into my life and somehow they find me and choose me to be a part of their wedding day. Not only do I love creating art for clients, I truly love the people I work with. They are the kind of people I want to spend Sundays with on the couch in sweatpants or a Friday out with a bottle of wine. I want to spend time in their lives beyond their wedding day and keep in touch with them like old friends months after the “I do.” From emails to thank you cards, boxes filled with macaroni and cheese and cute coffee mugs, my clients are the people who fuel me to keep on creating. I want my corner of the web to be entirely honest and authentic and so I am going to tell the truth: working from home by yourself can be lonely. While I am a self-admitted homebody, it can get really hard to be isolated from the rest of the working world. Being your own boss is seriously the greatest gift of this adventure, but that perk also means that you don’t get consistent feedback, don’t have lunch with co-workers, get sick days or vacation time, enjoy the benefits of a company matched 401k, or have office parties.
While I can sometimes struggle in feeling alone, my clients are the ones who are checking in, cheering me on, and making me feel truly valued to be a piece of their story. They never let me forget that I am a piece of their love story and they treat me as one of their dearest friends. At the end of this year I will have captured 88 glorious weddings. It’s absolutely wild to think about the number of moments I have spent with some incredible individuals. Moments where they become a husband or a wife, moments where they celebrate their families, their love, their lives. This year I have been entirely spoiled by clients who are the first to excitedly text when they see their slideshow, send the kindest thank you cards that I refuse to throw away, and shower me with the most thoughtful gifts and reminders that I am loved and appreciated. Each and every effort you make does not go unnoticed, I savor and print and file and hold on to those notes for the days that I feel alone. I save the text messages, star the emails, save the gift cards for rainy days, and cling to the momentos that remind me that you saw something in me that changed you. I am the best because I work with the best. I am honored to step in on a wedding day and share the hard work of my brides and grooms, experience their most intimate moments, hug their families, dance with their friends and tell their stories. Thank you for trusting me to tell tales of love and life and celebration, I can never, ever thank you enough.
