Over the last year, I’ve completely transformed my health! I am feeling better than ever and am living up to my word of the year which was “vibrant!” Let me be honest, I love a good gadget and my Facebook page hits me with really darn good targeted ads (for things that cost a pretty penny!) While some of my health gadgets are more pricey “nice-to-haves,” I definitely have a handful of more affordable items I wouldn’t give up no matter how much someone paid me.

These have been staples in my health journey and while none are necessary for you to live a healthier life, they’ve been super helpful in my own journey this year! In fact, five of my nonnegotiable health favs each cost less than $100 per month (some WELL under) and make a big impact on how I feel, show up, and maintain my health goals.

5 surprising (and hopefully accessible!) items that support my health:

I want to share these more affordable game-changers with you, in case you’re seeking out cost-effective (and easy-to-incorporate) ways to upgrade your nutrition, movement, and overall wellness too! Ya ready for my must-haves?

#1. Chia seeds:

($8-12 at most grocery stores)

Sounds weird, right? But I consume chia seeds every day! They’re such an easy, tiny, tasteless thing to add into foods or drinks, but they pack a big nutritional punch from a health perspective. Every morning I kick off my day with some lemon water and chia! (I’ve got to give credit where credit is due, Drew makes my lemon water daily!) But I also love chia in things like smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt bowls! I try to get 2 tablespoons of them a day. They don’t taste like anything and add some texture, which makes it all the easier to throw them into different dishes or drinks!

Dr. Daryl Gioffre is a nutritionist, author, and celebrity doctor who often shares the benefits of chia seeds. Here are some of the benefits of ingesting 2 tablespoons of chia seeds per day that he shared here:

  • 10 grams of fiber (nearly 40% of your daily intake)
  • The same amount of omega-3 fatty acids found in a 4-ounce piece of salmon
  • Lowers inflammation in the gut
  • Chia seeds soak up 27x their weight in water if you let them soak in water for 5 minutes before consuming, lubricating and hydrating your mucous membranes and helping with GI issues like constipation

#2. My Peloton membership:

($12.99/month for digital; $44/month for all-access if you have the bike)

Full disclosure, I’ve been slacking on this one, but I refuse to get rid of it because it’s there when I need it (and Drew uses it daily, so it’s not going to waste!) This has been the only way for me to consistently fit exercise into my routine for years now! I am hoping after I’m done nursing to get back a little more energy to carry me through workouts but right now I’ve just been prioritizing movement in little pockets of time (like pedaling on the bike during a call or going on a walk!)

Peloton has SO many great classes (not just cycle/treadmill classes), from yoga to walking or running outside to strength and weights to pilates and even meditation and stretching classes on demand! Even if you don’t have the bike (though we do and absolutely love it!), the other classes are totally worth it and we love the teachers. Beyond cardio, there is so much variety that you can partake in, and more classes are being added literally every day! Plus you can filter based on length of class, intensity, instructor, music, and more.

It has been life-changing having access to a workout experience that feels very community-centered even though I’m doing it from the comfort and convenience of my own home. You can get the digital app membership for just under $13 a month and use either a bike or treadmill at your gym (or another brand at home) if you don’t want to buy theirs. We’re super pumped for our new home gym, we plan to get the treadmill as well and I’m ready to get back into more consistent work outs! If you want to save $100 on Peloton accessories, click here! I got you!

#3. My vitamins and supplements:

(For me, about $50-$100/month)

Last night I was telling my dad about the supplements and vitamins I take and I piqued his curiosity enough to have him agree to at least get tested to see which would help him. Clearly, this is something I’m passionate about! It’s also something I’ve learned a lot about this last year. The pricing here can vary based on your personal needs, and I’d totally advise talking to your doctor and getting a blood test done to know what you specifically are missing or lacking nutritionally. I share a little bit about the how and why behind my vitamins and supplements in this podcast episode.

If you pay for the bloodwork once, then you can make sure the vitamin regimen you’re on is supporting your specific needs without wasting money on vitamins you don’t need or that aren’t supporting your body. It’s so easy to buy into fancy supplement and vitamin marketing, but truly the only way to know what YOU need is by getting a personalized workup of your body and blood! It’s been a game-changer for me, and I can absolutely feel the difference. My vitamins are a non-negotiable for me daily and have become a habit in my life that I’ve stuck to. I even have the old lady pill container to prove it!

#4. This green superfood powder:

($2.66 per serving when you subscribe)

One thing we do NOT have nearby our house — and I love me a fancy juice bar! I heard ads for this product in a lot of different places and wasn’t sure if it was a gimmick. I know a lot of influencers who share this product, but I am a (fully obsessed) paying customer here and a convert. I drink this stuff every single day, it’s so good! Coco actually steals it and has her own. I promise you, it doesn’t taste bad (regardless of the VERY green color), and for someone who doesn’t always crave green food, this is a great way to get in the vitamins and nutrients that greens provide. I love it and I never skip a day.

You just put one scoop of the greens powder in a glass of water, and it gives you 75 vitamins, minerals, probiotics, adaptogens, and whole-food sourced nutrients just like that. It’s one of the easiest and BEST health/nutrition hacks out there… Like, I’m actually pretty convinced this stuff is made of magic and fairy dust. It’s become a staple in my life (and now my fams, too!)

#5. This health tracking ring:

(Payment plans as low as $25-$99/month)

This feels slightly like a cheat because the ring itself is an investment however, the one-time fee is worth it in my opinion! I’ve been sharing about this gold ring a lot on Instagram and get a ton of questions. I got this health tracking ring this summer, and I love it for insights into my movement, sleep, and my cycle. While I love my Apple Watch for notifications and to be able to leave my phone in the other room, I don’t want to sleep in it and while the data is useful it isn’t as personalized as I would like!

This ring tracks activity and fitness, menstruation cycles, sleep insights, heart rate, body temp, and more. The biggest game changers for me have been in the sleep data. It has helped me prioritize my sleep by learning when my optimal bedtime is, how to craft a better environment that gets me deeper sleep, and how I’m trending in terms of consistency with bed and wake times.

I also love the ring because it helps you see how your body is recovering (something the Apple Watch doesn’t do) and it will recommend insights into what sort of movement would be best for your body based on your metrics. The insights are super accurate and have been really helpful for me to see what habits and rhythms in my life are supporting or taking away from my overall health and well-being. It’s pricier if you pay in full ($299-$399 depending on the finish you get), but their payment plans don’t tack on any additional interest or fees and are well worth it in my opinion!

Curious about my health journey?

What do you think — have you tried any of my favorite health products and love them, too? Or are any of these on your wishlist to try out? This year has been absolutely pivotal in my own personal journey with my health! I’m feeling better than I ever have and have implemented new habits and routines that excite me and that I’ve been able to stick to!
