Calling all business owners: do you feel like you wear a gazillion hats in your business?!
I’ve never been the biggest hat-wearer (unless it’s floppy on a beach in Maui!), but I definitely find myself wearing a lot in my business as the CEO, creative director, podcast host, social media manager, bookkeeper, and a million other things.
No matter how many hats we wear, my guest on Goal Digger today juuuuust might have us beat.
Dr. Contessa is a wife, mother, doctor, Navy Veteran, a main cast member on Bravo’s “Married to Medicine,” AND a successful entrepreneur running two different businesses… That’s right: she’s changing the world… and rocking all those hats flawlessly.
I can’t WAIT for you to hear our conversation today about how she does it all, prioritizes her health FIRST, and how your bottom line is affected if you don’t do the same.
Empower Yourself to Take Control
Taking control of your health is an empowering act that can have a profound effect on your life AND business. It can be intimidating to take the first step, but let me tell you: it is well worth the effort!
Dr. Contessa, a preventative and occupational medicine doctor, knows this firsthand. Her family’s history of chronic illness motivated her to pursue a career in preventive medicine and to help others take control of their health. She works with individuals and large companies to create strategies for health promotion and to empower patients to make their own decisions about their health.
In our conversation, Dr. Contessa emphasizes that preventive medicine is about health promotion and passing the power back to the patient. She spends much of her time educating patients so that they can make informed decisions about their health.
Taking control of your health can be daunting, but it’s a rewarding journey. Additionally, understanding the connection between your lifestyle, your health, and your business can help you to make changes that can have a positive impact on your overall well being.
Take Care of Yourself First
Taking care of yourself should be your number one priority because although it’s a bit cliche, you can’t pour from an empty cup!
Taking care of yourself comes in many different forms, such as:
- Eating a balanced diet,
- Taking supplements and vitamins,
- Getting regular vitamins, and
- Prioritizing self-care.
Taking the time to focus on your physical and mental health can help to ensure that you are living a healthy and happy life, reduces your stress, and ensures you can show up fully present for your family and your business, too.
Outsource What Doesn’t Matter
One way health and business intersect is Dr. Contessa’s philosophy on outsourcing what doesn’t matter. As I mentioned, she wears a TON of hats as a busy mom, reality TV star, and entrepreneur, and Dr. Contessa is the QUEEN of trading her money to get back time in her day.
When Dr. Contessa chooses to get her groceries delivered or brings a stylist in to do her daughter’s hair, she’s not seeing it as a failure… She’s seeing it as a way to be present for the people and the things that matter to her.
For us entrepreneurs, I bet we can *all* think of at least 5 things in our business that we could be outsourcing to someone who will do it better and faster than us. So Dr. Contessa and I encourage you to save yourself time and pass on the responsibility to someone else!
You’ll thank us later, we promise.
