I have always loved diving into a good book that takes me away from life for a little while and allows me to escape into a new world. But as I’ve gotten older and more focused on streamlining all areas of my own world, I’ve become way more interested in books that share actionable ways to make business (and life) more efficient.
And today, I’m sharing the 5 books my team and I have been devouring this season to rock our work lives and our real lives, too. I don’t know about you, but I love a quick read that’s easy to digest and then implement, and that’s what all of these have in common.
So, if you’re looking for ways to end the year inspired or kick off 2020 with renewed vigor and direction, look no further than these motivating page-turners (that also happen to make pretty awesome stuffing stockers, now that I think about it!). Happy reading!
The one that will teach you to be a captivating storyteller:
This bestseller is one of my favorites because I’ve seen it in action over and over again. Stories are the things that connect us, that endear us to one another, and that ultimately sell products and services. We don’t want a shiny product without knowing how it’s going to change our lives or move the needle in some way, right? The thing that makes it impactful is the story about what it’s done for others before us.
Well, Kindra teaches you exactly how to use the stories in your life to influence and attract your dream audience and customer. She walks you through the different kinds of stories we each have, and how we can use them as tools to not only grow our businesses, but also seek out and captivate likeminded people to follow and ultimately buy from you.
The one that will enable you to focus on the most important task:
Gary! He’s a rockstar in the real estate world, and this book is everything if you’ve ever found yourself not knowing where to start or how to prioritize your day. And then procrastinating half the day away, hoping a stroke of inspo would just eventually hit. Gary’s approach? Start with the ONE thing that would make all other things easier or unnecessary to do.
It’s like the ultimate guide to getting stuff done in the most efficient manner possible. It starts with pinpointing the number one thing you should focus on. Then, you can eliminate distractions and hone in on the most important task at hand. He’ll show you exactly how to discover what that is every single day.
The one that will help you to slow down and embrace rest:
This book is as sweet and soothing for the soul as chamomile tea with a drop of honey. It’s a must-read for everyone, whether you worry occasionally or deal with daily anxiety and chronic stress. Rebekah so beautifully shows us the life we were created to live, one that embraces slower rhythms than our society is used to: resting, restoring, connecting, and creating.
She shows you how you can get in touch with each of these rhythms with practical steps and heart-warming stories that you’ll definitely relate to (I know I did). In a world where busyness and fast paces are applauded, we all need this book to remind ourselves of the important things in life (hint: it’s not running yourself into the ground to achieve all the things).
The one that will show you the steps required to make lasting change:
Let’s face it. We’ve all got a few bad habits that we can’t seem to kick — or maybe we don’t even want to face. Atomic Habits is your guiding force and encouragement to take baby steps toward change in order to improve your everyday and create new habits, and a life, you adore. James’ methodology embraces the fact that change isn’t instantaneous; it doesn’t happen overnight.
Change takes small, regular, intentional behavior shifts, and he’s showing you how to build your own system to create the exact life you’ve always dreamed of living. I mean, it sounds too good to be true… but it’s not. He gives you every tool you need, plus practical strategies to begin changing your life and achieving your most immense goals today.
The one that will empower you to finally go for your dreams:
This gal is a WIZ at figuring things out. (But you know that already if you heard my interview with her on Goal Digger!) In her book, Marie’s sharing that you don’t have to be an expert or a seasoned professional in a certain area to chase down your wildest dreams. Yep, even if you don’t know where to start. And yep, even if you have no clue what you’re doing.
She’s teaching you how to do it even if you have no time or money, even if you don’t have a plan, even if you struggle with naysayers or imposter syndrome. If you have a goal or a vision for your life, you CAN figure it out and achieve big things. And she’ll show you exactly how to do it, roadmap and everything.
Whew, I don’t know about you, but I’m itching to get into a cozy reading chair by the fire with a glass of cab and a good book now. And these are some of the best I’ve paged through lately. They’re helping me to live a life in alignment with who I want to become, and that’s everything I could hope for in a good book. I hope you get as much joy and encouragement from them as I did.
