They met at a wedding dance, polka danced all night, he told her he would marry her. Then he entered the army and was shipped off as military police. He wrote her love letters when he was away but she never got them because she was staying with relatives in a different state, he showed up on the door step one day and told her he was there to marry her. She said, “no you’re not!” and was shocked because she had never gotten the letters he had been sending declaring his love to her and desire to marry her. They announced their engagement on Sunday and got married on Wednesday, the church was overflowing.
Almost 63 years, four kids, twenty foster kids, grandkids, great grandkids, around the world travels, grandkids, great grandkids, one farm, some ups, some downs, a lot of faith, and a few kisses later, here they are. Marriage isn’t perfect, love isn’t perfect, we, as humans, aren’t perfect but with a little grace, a lot of forgiveness, a few kisses, and all the love in the world, we can make it. These two are proof! How sweet are my grandparents, Sulo and Delores? I am so excited to announce that I will be heading to Finland with them in June this year! Grandpa is 100% Finnish and hasn’t visited in a long while, so we are heading back to the homeland this summer and I am so excited to spend a week exploring Finland with them and more members of our family! Maybe I’ll pick up a little Finnish while I’m there!
