It’s been a little while since we’ve given you a peek into our home! In fact, we’ve been busy over here making this house our home and almost forgot to share the updates! We got new concrete on our driveway and sidewalks, finally finished the living room that was giving us trouble, we have a landscaping plan all ready to go and have updated a few fixtures and rugs (even the walls got a little paint!) We are slowly moving through the house and making the minor adjustments that make it feel more like home every single day (and Drew has been a busy bee making our back yard look like a golf course!)

The living room was a struggle for us because instead of being an open room, a half bathroom had been added but it cut into the space in an interesting way that made configuring the furniture a little tricky! Thankfully, our friend Stacy Simmons came in and took some measurements to help us figure out our plan of attack and so we sold our beloved leather couch and oversized chair and opted for two Article loveseats and two Target ottomans. We are absolutely in love with the Article loveseats. They totally fit the midcentury vibe, the clean Scandinavian lines, they are lower profiled so that we don’t block the French doors to my office, and most nights you’ll find us lounging on them with the pups! They were the perfect solution to our awkward layout and provide a space for conversations. Comfortable, affordable, and the perfect mix of old and new (we already have a wish list of more Article pieces to add to the craftsman!)

We also ordered a new coffee table, console table, mirror, artwork, and a few baskets for the stray blankest (I am a little obsessed with cozy throw blankets, woops!) One of the other minor updates that made a major difference was having our handy friend, Mitch, come over and put white bead board behind the builtins (we didn’t paint over the original wood, just slid in the white in front of it!) The original 100+ year old wood work is absolutely charming but the room felt really dark to me, you couldn’t even see what was in the builtins so this little tweak made it feel bigger, brighter! This is a wonderful space that we find ourselves in most nights and I am so thankful to call it ours!
