Today I’m hanging out with Liz Bohannon, the founder of Sseko Designs, who I was first introduced to by a “little” show called, Shark Tank! I am a giant fan of the show, and now I like to call Liz a really, really quick best friend. I’m so excited to share her brilliance and vision for changing the world for the better!
Liz has generously offered our listeners a free gift of a customizable Brave Bracelet with any purchase over $50 on our site! Simply add any item(s) totaling $50 or more to your cart, then add the Brave Bracelet to your cart and use the promotional code: goaldigger to receive the bracelet for free!
Sseko is a fashion company based in Uganda, which helps young woman transition from high school to college. In this episode, learn how a passion of Liz Bohannon’s grew into helping women – on a global scale.
As you’ll hear, passion is something that Liz truly believes in, and this brought her from a chicken farm to fashion design! Her “failure” on Shark Tank propelled her ahead in business, and she tells us how this experience impacted her significantly going forward. Liz also shares that your mission and your impact is not your brand, and why it’s so important to create major transparency when it comes to the makers and distribution of your physical product. She quite literally hijacked the retail model to align better with her goals, and you’ll be fascinated to learn more about this inspiring entrepreneur’s journey to get to where she is today.

Hey Jenna!
I listened to this episode last week and loved it! I just went to send the link to a friend to listen and noticed the promo code in the show notes. How long is it valid for? I just tried it and it’s saying it is not a valid code.
Hi Meagan, it should still be valid! Did you follow these directions: Simply add any item(s) totaling $50 or more to your cart, then add the Brave Bracelet to your cart and use the promotional code: goaldigger to receive the bracelet for free!
Let me know if it’s not working and I”ll check with Seeko!
Hi Jenna,
Yesterday was one of those days I love, when I am spending hours in my car, delivering products to customers and listening to your inspiring podcasts!
Listening to this one yesterday on Sseko Designs and the one on Healing Waters truly helped me crystallize an emerging idea I had for a product. From a marketing point of view, being able to associate the story of “giving” or “giving back” with a product is truly powerful. I cannot wait to start that journey!
Thanks so much Jenna for what you do. You are truly talented!
Christine
Oh my, this episode was an absolute bombshell! You can see just hear the amazing genius and wisdom pouring out from Liz. You can tell she’s such an amazing business woman, and has such a vast knowledge on what she doesn. While I’m by no means running a social business, I am so inspired and excited for Sseko, and of course, I think there were amazing business nuggets, regardless of the type of industry – such as the to lead with your why, your belief that others can connect with, instead of the what you do. So, so fab! Thanks Jenna and Liz for this amazing episode!
