In fact, I truly believe that the success and health of my business consistently hinges on my email list! It’s how I connect with my audience, serve them, and drive sales in my business.
In this episode that originally aired at the end of 2022, I’ll share 5 proven strategies to grow your email list, including a tactic that gained us 9,000 subscribers in just over two months!

1. Quizzes
Over the years, we have launched a few quizzes to grow our email list, including the “What’s Your Secret Sauce?” quiz, which was created in 2017. We’ve had MILLIONS of views on this quiz, and hundreds of thousands of leads from it. It’s amazing to see that about 50% of participants complete the quiz and opt in!
Then, we launched a new quiz at the end of 2022, called “Who Are You, Really?” When I created this quiz, I wanted to bring people back home to themselves and to know that the way they are makes them amazing. It is their superpower, and if they have the right resources and tools, it can only positively impact their life and their results and the way that they feel!
2. Launches
One of the most effective ways to achieve rapid list growth is through launches, such as webinars and challenges. A focused push towards a resource or offer can generate a significant number of new leads. Even if you don’t have a product to sell, creating and promoting a free offer like a real launch can help grow your list tremendously.
For instance, during a live launch of my List to Launch email list-building program, we gained over 3,500 new contacts in just one week. These new subscribers are already interested in the offer, and even if they don’t purchase immediately, I can nurture the relationship and potentially convert them in the future.
Another example is partnering with others. I teamed up with Amy Porterfield for her Digital Course Academy launch, and my list grew by almost 7,000 new subscribers in just two weeks!
Remember: the goal is not just to convert new subscribers into sales immediately, but to keep them engaged and served over the long term.
3. Paid Traffic
Nearly 50% of our paid ads are directed towards list-building efforts—44% to be exact, and it could be even higher since we also run ads for my webinars. Paid ads provide a cost-effective way to generate leads and bring them through our funnel, allowing us to build relationships with new subscribers.
It’s important to note that my large following and years of building relationships with my audience contribute to these results, which might not be typical but are certainly achievable. In November 2022 alone, we generated close to 10,000 leads through paid traffic!
With ads, it’s crucial to analyze the results. Identify which creative elements and copy resonate with your audience and use that information to refine your ad efforts, making them increasingly effective over time.
4. Pop Ups
It might seem unusual, but having a pop-up strategy can be incredibly effective. In 2021 alone, our blog site had 317,056 visitors and 23,756 conversions, resulting in an impressive 7.49% conversion rate.
How did we achieve this? Through testing, trial, and thorough research!
We used Google Analytics to analyze the types of devices our site visitors were using, and found that the majority were on mobile. We then optimized our mobile designs, which significantly improved our results, increasing site visitors by nearly 38,000 and conversions by 17,000 compared to the previous year. This adjustment helped us grow our list and connect our audience with additional resources and offers.
Popup Pro Tip: Utilizing highly specific offers rather than generic ones can boost conversions by over 50%. Tools like Google Analytics can help you identify where to place these offers for maximum impact. For example, our “About” page is one of our highest-traffic pages, and placing a pop-up with a top-performing, specific resource there has proven to be very effective.
Instagram DM Automation
Chatbots have dramatically boosted our email list–like, by over 66,000 new email subscribers since the Fall of 2022!
These chat automations help build our list through social media using trigger words and a sequence of automated events. When someone engages with my posts, stories, or sees the CTA in my bio to DM me a specific word, they receive an automated message prompting them to respond.
From there, we use a chat funnel to capture their first name and email address. The funnel includes follow-ups 1 hour and 22 hours later at each step, using selfie videos, audio messages, and selfie images from me.
