I never, ever regret travel. This week I’ve been apologizing to my husband as I continue to plan trip after trip without him so that I can shoot in fun places like California and Seattle and beyond. Mixing work and travel might be my most favorite thing in the world. Last night I finally had the chance to flood through the photos I took while on the streets of Old San Juan! I was absolutely in love with all of the color, movement, and texture of this place. It made me wish that our homes were painted pastel shades and had big white shutters that opened for fresh air sans screens. We got to explore the streets, got caught in a rain storm that left us running for cover, ate some seafood mofongo, got hit on my our waiter, gave said waiter a fake number, and enjoyed a delicious tropical drink before taking a wild cab ride back to the hotel.
I edited these images a little differently than I normally do. I love playing around with personal work and trying new things. I wanted to just shoot whatever I saw on the streets and not take only perfect photos. I wanted a rawness in them and to share the authentic San Juan with the world. They aren’t perfect, they are merely snapshots of our adventure and to me, that will always win over the awkward tourist photos of a person standing in front of a statue. So, please enjoy the streets of Old San Juan through my adventuresome eyes… stay tuned for some beach photos in the upcoming days.
