The Fourth of July has always been something I love. It’s always involved family and sparklers and watermelon and bikinis, talk about summer perfection. When we were little we would go to the family cabin that my Great Grandma Bertha owned and we would play the macarena on the dock, fish for sunfish using clothes baskets, and make epic sand castles that would last all weekend. Over the years traditions evolved and that first July weekend has become a favorite of mine. Now that my parents own their own cabin, we host the holiday and invite over cousins, their kids, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and basically anyone that needs a place to enjoy some time at the lake. It’s now about pontoon rides, baby cuddling, yard games, puppies everywhere, diving into the water, long walks on the sandy roads, and cold drinks on the hot days. Here is a little glimpse into our holiday weekend spent with family on the lake, talk about my happy place. Lord only knows that my soul yearns for more cabin time! Hope everyone had an awesome fourth of July and got to enjoy some fireworks in the sky!
