To come “home” they sometimes hop into their plane, their two dogs, Maddie and Scout, their fearless co-pilots. It’s safe to say that these two travel in style when it comes to getting back to their home roots. It’s also safe to say that Creighton and Michelle know how to invite everyone into their world with a great party, a lot of celebration, and a few (happy) tears. To be able to watch the evolution as these two, to know them both separately, then as a couple, has been a blessing.
I met Creighton in the lobby and together we walked over to the spot where he would first see his bride. His words, “Jenna, I’m really nervous. Not nervous to get married, that’s the easy part. I just want this day to be everything Michelle dreamed it would be.” I reassured him that the minute he saw her, he would melt into a happy puddle and all that stress would disolve into the warm Milwaukee air. As she tapped his shoulder and he turned, I watched them transform, not just as a bride and groom, not just as a man and wife, but they became one: a true union.
With parents and grandparents looking on with teary eyes, these two said “I do” and then headed over to Pier Wisconsin to celebrate all night long with friends. Legacies of love, of overcoming hard times, of staying true and committed as their guiding light, Creighton and Michelle set themselves up for success and with every hand squeeze, every little glance, they were laying the foundation of not just their wedding day but their marriage. Dinner, dancing, even a fireworks show all pulled together a day that I think even Michelle couldn’t have dreamed.
