It’s easy to always want to change things, to think that perfect will be better than done, to believe that things won’t be good enough for the world, but here’s what I know: we care more about ourselves than anyone else will. For the last four years I’ve had the same website, the same space, the safe site that everyone in the industry has and while it’s beautiful, simple, and has served me and my business extremely well, it’s time for a change.
Over the last few years my brand has grown, my business has evolved, and my vision for the future has changed. All of this can’t be summed up on one simple webpage, it was time for a change and with a new website, a new brand is coming. So what does this look like? It looks like: nights spent refining, defining, and providing not just a vision for my business, but a mission. It looked like sitting at the dining room table with my friend Jen Olmstead and hashing out the design, drinking wine, eating cookies.
So why Jen? Well, there are a million reasons why I told her. It wasn’t an easy decision, so many of my friends are talented designers and incredible web wizards but Jen had this “it” factor that I knew I needed. She knew how to take a multifaceted business and make it a cohesive brand. She wasn’t afraid of going a little crazy, having a little fun, and going against the flow! Heck, she was willing to hop on a plane and fly to Wisconsin to work with me, so heck yes, more Jen, please!
It’s a lot of refinement but also in getting comfortable going against the flow (because only dead fish go with the flow.) It’s high end, laid back, and it somehow sums up the person I am (not just what I do) on one page. There will be a “go at your own adventure” game, a lot of fun quizzes, all the content you’ve ever wanted from photography to business help, watercolor designs to marriage realities, and life making our house a home and filling it with foster pups. It won’t be done for a few weeks but this week is dedicated to making this corner of the inter webs feel like home!
Thank you, thank you to Jen for flying to Wisconsin from Virginia to be a design wizard for me and special thanks to my main girl, Caitlyn for spending the day helping us refine the vision (and polish off the bottle of wine!)
